Strongest Strain of Marijuana

Top 7 Strongest Weed Strains 2022

Blog

Cannabis usage has been legalized in different states. This move has seen an increase in the number of marijuana strains as many growers seek to achieve a high potency. You cannot explore all the weed strains, but the information we have here will show you how to go about it.

What is the Strongest Strain of Marijuana?

Before answering the question, let us first talk about what determines the strength of a cannabis strain. Different strains have different THC and CBD levels. THC is the compound found in the marijuana bud responsible for the highness when you take a puff. It will stimulate your brain and bring in euphoria, among other effects.

When it comes to the question of which is the strongest weed strain, we would say it depends. The highest THC strain depends on many growth factors. That makes it nearly impossible to point out a particular weed as the record holder. Currently, the strongest weed strain has a THC value of about 30% and is expected to increase even further. We are yet to see a weed strain with 40% THC content.

What Determines the THC Content of Cannabis?

The highest THC percentage flower has come from growers who can control the growth condition. That makes us conclude that the TCH content in the bud depends on the growth conditions. The main contributor is the light source. By regulating the quality and quantity of light, cannabis master was managed to produce the strongest weed in the world.

Since there are advancements in the cultivation of marijuana across the states, we expect to see the plant with the highest THC percentage flower ever. Will 2022 be the year of the strongest weed in the world? Only time will tell.

The Highest THC Strains 2022

If you are a regular cannabis user, then there is no doubt you would like to try the highest THC strains. The strongest marijuana strain is determined by the level of THC compound in their buds. On our list, we have researched and consolidated the strongest weed strains. You can try out any of these 7 marijuana strains either for medicinal use or recreational purposes.

Grease Monkey

This is an Indica-dominant weed strain resulting from a cross between Gorilla Glue and Cookies and Cream marijuana strains. It is the highest THC percentage flower on our list, with a whopping value of 31%. This value can significantly vary depending on the growth conditions, as already stated.

Grease Monkey has a strong aroma of nutty vanilla and skunky diesel. When smoke, the high effect builds behind the eyes and then spreads to the rest of the body. It drives you to a euphoric high characterized by mental calming effects. Medicinally, this strain is a remedy for chronic pain, nausea, insomnia, loss of appetite, etc.

Pacman OG

This is another Indica-dominant cannabis that is among the strongest strains of weed in the world today. It has a high THC value of up to 29% and is popular among regular stoners. If you are looking for the strongest marijuana in the world to try today, then place your bet on this strain.

The strain has a sweet citrusy aroma. The flavor is kind of earthy with hints of lemon and a high euphoric effect that will immediately dive your body into a deep state of relaxation. It then introduces a happy feeling and overall well-being. It is the best choice for relieving pain, stress, insomnia, and other effects. It is recommended to veteran smokers since it is one of the strongest types of weed.

99 Problems

99 Problems is a Sativa-dominant weed strain resulting from a cross between White 99 and Stardawg. This strain features in our list of high THC strains because it has a high percentage of this compound. The value ranges from 28-30%, with some breeders reporting even higher values.
Those looking to try the most potent weed should first start with 99 Problems, but it is not for novice smokers. It has a multi-layer scent that begins with a strong smell that quickly turns into an airy and fruity balance of sweet berries. When this very potent strain of weed gets into your system, it will immediately uplift your mood, boost focus and energy, and increase creativity.

Chocolate OG

Source

Chocolate is a result of a cross between True OG and Chocolate Rain and is mainly Indica. Many breeders have reported the highest THC level as close as 30%, but the value averages at about 26%. Depending on where you buy your product, you can easily say that Chocolate OG is one of the high THC strains.

This strain is best known for its high relaxing properties, which dominate as you continue to take more puffs. It drives you into a giggly euphoric feeling. The smoke has a flavor of cheesy and nutty but leaves a savory note on the palate.

Blue Walker

This weed strain is 90% Sativa with an average THC level of 26.77%. This relatively high percentage of the compound makes it features on our list of strongest weeds in the world. It is rightfully here because it is a very potent weed that will readily drive you into a long-lasting buzz. You will feel more energized, euphoric, and relaxed.

Blue Walker has a remarkable calming effect, making it a perfect antidote for stress, anxiety, depression, etc. It’s also a good remedy for pain and nausea.

Banana Kush

Banana Kush is a cross-breed between OG Kush and a male Banana and possesses a creamier banana flavor and all the sedative effects of its parents. The strain is best known for its enticing and potency. Its high THC level of 27% creates highness instantly, making you feel more energized.

Durban Kush

This is a Sativa dominant strain, resulting from a cross between OG Kush and Durban. The THC level varies, but many are within the range of 25-27%. That is what made it appear in the list of highest THC strains 2022. It is best known for its aroma of a tart, earth, pine, and spice overtones.

          1. I’m a chemist and a cultivator since 1985 and these comments are hilarious. If you don’t have a certificate of analysis from a lab employing a PhD analytical chemist doing either LC-DAD or LCMSMS you don’t know the THC level. At 32.56% I bred and own the strongest strain in the world. Show me your certificate of analysis, or you have nothing. No one has ever taken this challenge. Funny how people just throw numbers around without any proof. Ask for their chromatogram and the certificate of analysis and they become silent.

          2. Northern Emeralds did a OMG (Indica strain….basically GMO) & the first batch was 42%
They have other strains like , Golden Goddess (Sativa) at 40% & Glazed Jelly Donut(Indica) at 40%

These are not distillate infused, just straight flower

            (5/5)
          3. You def have my attention ,and I totally believe you’re assessment about THC%. What strain did you develop? I would love to try it……A longtime believer in good high thc flower.

          4. We have had our medical marijuana tested professionally by a company that employs botanist and micro biologist . That gave us the following information. “ there is no known marijuana that is beyond 30% THC . Marijuana is a plant with organic processes. For a plant to be 40 to 50% THC half the plant would be crystals . Thc crystals are a biproduct of glandular tricomb process , not the crystals produce the plant . So when you see these claims of thc levels ove 30% they are false .

        3. You really have to be careful where you buy your weed from. Some dispensaries run out of real marijuana buds once harvest comes around, so supply is not unlimited. Having pointed that out to you, these dispensaries buy in bulk hemp flower (not marijuana buds) and spray them with terpenes and concentrated THC so it will get you high like real weed when in reality you are buying and smoking Hemp flower. So, if flower (buds) has a really high THC content it’s one of two things; one, its hemp sprayed with terpenes and THC, or its real weed sprayed with concentrates to increase the THC content of the flower. It’s safe to say that if the THC content is between 25 to 18 percent its most likely real flower. The highest THC content that I know of ranges from 32 to 29 percent, but beyond that, I have not found any of it reaching 54 percent. It may be possible but not probable. it has to be scientifically engineered in a growth lab to do so is the only way that I see. Now you can find strains that claim that, but you would have to grow it in the best condition without lab growth to verify it. Until then you should assume that it was sprayed with concentrates.

      2. I just purchased a 35% gmo is what it’s called ,it’s indica; thts pretty good haven’t seen any higher in % so it’s pretty good we buy this in Maine at blazing Jane’s canvas boutique..have a beautiful day !:)

        1. GMO or Garlic Mushroom Onion cookies is my all time fave strain smells like a pizza and hits nicely def a night time bud

          1. I’ve got some GMO Cookies sitting at 39.49% idk how accurate it is but it’s heavy heavy high.

          2. Does not smell like pizza u guys don’t even kno wat your smoking stick to California weed try some Obama runts and cookie dough and cereal milk and gelato 31 and 33

            (1/5)
          1. Yeah it’s not biologically possible for any plant to be above like 44 or 47 percent, more than that the plant wouldn’t be able to create enough thc to even reach a 72%. It has to be concentrate, which is no where close to the 96% I saw in Colorado. The highest I’ve seen was 36-38%

        1. There is no weed that 72% there lieing to u big time if there was weed that potent u would go to sleep first hit u guys are retarted u will believe anything as long as there’s a name and a label on the jade I can just easily go online print the Lable or just put it in my lable maker try doing some research instead of believing whatever someone puts in front of u

          (1/5)
      3. Here in the panhandle at trulieve pineapple upside down cake is the highest thc usually 30% and black tuna is pretty high thc.
At MUV they have a strain modified grapes #5 and it’s 32% and Robots is 29%. The 32 is the highest thc I’ve had. All these are excellent strains.

        1. That strain only gets to 22 to 28 percent the if grown perfectly and u didn’t I kno it from here u go online it’s 28 percent

          (1/5)
    1. Read up on testing methods. There’s no standard at the moment for interpretation of the data. I’ve seen 40% on a lab report and 30%, but numbers can be skewed.

      (4/5)
    2. I also have the same pineapple upside down strain from trulieve and it always is around 30%. Just picked up some that is at 37.041% which is the highest I’ve ever seen

      (5/5)
      1. Bro I just looked that strain up online and it’s 14.4 percent thx get the fuck outta here with your 37 percent bud lol all u out ur minds

        (1/5)
    3. Just having a non-indica dominant strain in your post is grounds for immediate dismissal because I don’t know about what people talking about getting energy and creativity I just get less stoned
Since everything’s relative and you’re going to tell all these arguments no potency must be defined by its ability to impair motor and neural ability and judgment. therefore all true acting indica strains are superior to sativa ones with the exceptions of sativas that have indica high (rarest of rare)
&Vice versa smoking into this is where you learn THC percentage alone does not mean everything because sometimes it’s 18-22% gets blackout stoned compared to the 27% hybrid are hit miss mee

      (5/5)
  1. Guys… u must try Chocolate OG. Chocolate is a result of a cross between True OG and Chocolate Rain.Giggly euphoria and bright citrus/grapefruit aromas speak to traditional OG attributes inherited from True OG

  4. White angel og has tested over 30% for the last 10 years +, not even an honorable mention? And no mention of ‘the toad’ which has had tests come back as high as 37%, slurricane, jungle cake, rainmaker, monster cookies, grape runtz, cookies n chem, even certain wedding cake cultivars all test over 30% consistently and from multiple testing facilities not to mention many many more strains. The 30% thc ceiling has been shattered years ago yet all these lists come out monthly/yearly with the ‘strongest strains’ and You have low 20% thc strains listed as being one of the strongest (kudos to this list, even with my ranting and the many omissions this list has by far one with the most highly tested strains listed)
I know this industry is shady beyond comprehension and growers, geneticists and strains will be flat out black balled at events, shows and cups in favor of a grower, geneticist and/or strain that’s inferior simply because It’s from a big name or a hyped line or in most cases because they paid the most to win/get the recognition (whats the cost to take home a cannabis cup these days, still around 30k or has that number gone up now with so many Legal Vendors and Easy access to the market?)
Lol this is just the rantings of some old guy who done lost his brains decades ago, pay no mind!

    (5/5)
    1. Well put. Show the COA’s (certificates of analysis) from accredited labs, and let the ranking take place that way.

  5. Lol I agree. I have Casino Kush and it averages at 28-30% and the batch I’m currently smoking came in at 33.21% thc. Good list but there are many other stronger strains not seen in the list. Of course with new strains being born and tested on a regular basis I can see it hard to keep up with and strains tend to vary but will have an average thc content percentage.

    (5/5)
    1. Would you guys be kind enough to put out a list with strains and the percentage? Keen to have a look.. hi from Australia 👋

  6. got some dank gmo testing at 38.79 percent thc highest ive ever smoked and ive been smoking for over 20 years

    (5/5)
    1. Are people talking about total acidic cannabinoid content? THCA %? Or the converted THC levels (THCA x 0.877 = THC)

  7. I live in Ohio and I’m on medical marijuana strain that I get from mydispensary range anywhere from 28 to 33% and the strain is called garlic cookies

    (4/5)
      1. Literally just bought Garlic Coolies this morning and the menu had it at 35%. I’ve seen several strains that are 30%+ (all indica) in Ohio dispensaries so I’m kind of shocked that’s it’s such a unicorn everywhere else.

  8. Just in today….8/16/2021. I represent an indoor hydro grow in Oregon named “A Vant Garden”. We just received our lab results of
LA Kush Cake that came in @ 40.41% THC!!!!

Can anyone tell me if you have seen anything higher testing with actual lab results??? Just wondering.

    (5/5)
    1. That’s very high, haven’t broken the 40% club yet, but here’s the COA on the 39% (total cannabinoids in flower sample, acidic forms) cultivar named ‘Gyp The Blood’.
Where is everyone hiding their lab tests? Show the COA’s!
      https://t.co/Kt8N090U3b

    2. I’ve grown 1 strain from Advanced grow Labs where I work that was a little over 40% THC in CT. Right now their highest strain is 39.31% THC in terpenes are a little over 4%. I can’t post a picture but I have it on me. But to be honest some of the best cannabis flower I get is from a friend in Massachusetts. I’m saying an ace for smell your whole entire house up like a fruity diesel smell. Amazing how far the industry has come. And how prices have dropped from 20 years ago. I’d say it’s almost 50% cheaper.

  9. 40%- Golden Goddess by Northern Emeralds., Bubba’s wedding 34%, Banana Mango 33%. All very potent, but potency alone doesn’t check all the boxes for me. Strains like Trainwreck, Romulan, AK-47, Jack Herer, GDP, Great White Shark, White Widow, Northern Lights, those are the Blue Ribbons that produced many Gold Medal strains. GSC and OG Kush are overused and over hyped.

    (5/5)
    1. How do I get some of this quality stuff in Utah! I’m super frustrated. I just need a friend here I have plenty of references from California. 55-year-old white guy in great shape this is my purpose. Give me a project please.

  10. I just had the pleasure of smoking “Little Devil” now that has A REALLY HIGH T H C content. 60% is high it tastes like weed crystals so good. Can anyone tell me if I’m really high did i say 60% . Is this possible.?

    (5/5)
  11. I bought icc ice cream cake at 30 percent thc today from MUV.. so I wonder how many others test at 30 plus and where does it cap off at. So did I truly have the 2nd strongest levels ever.. doubt it.. lmao..

    (4/5)
  12. The reason a lot of the strains you guys are talking about that aren’t getting mentioned is because the THC numbers they are reporting have been inflated. Just because they have a sheet with the “laboratory” test results doesn’t mean they’re factual. There are many labs that are inflating THC numbers, in fact it has become a big problem. Some states are starting to crack down on this BS and rightly so. The problem is much worse in the US than in Canada they say. There are plenty of articles you can read on false THC lab results and how there is lots of $$ to be made by doing it. Money is usually the reasoning behind anything like this happening. These labs need to get hit hard so consumers can trust they are getting what they are buying.

    (4/5)
    1. Triangle Octane, 32% THC and not on your “List”. I’ve got 50 years smoking and it’s the best I’ve had so far…

  13. Portland,OR Hydrus Hydroponics grows 1 strain Dawgy Treats steady 36%. & 7 Points Farms has Voyager & future #1 37-38% both have steady results that’s why we’re the Green State!

    (5/5)
  14. I’ve been smoking since 1968 and I can tell you that although today’s potent buds are smooth and creamy, because it’s legal now – it’s just not as potent as that old squashed twigs, seeds and stems in the illegal days gave ua. That stuff kicked your butt. The reason – paranoia of getting busted – increases the high. Now, we got blasé, middle of the road legal pot that doesn’t quite do the job. I miss the old days of hiding out and being so completely stoned because of the fear of jail. Now, the legal dealers are selling you a controlled substance with a low THC count you think is high. It’s kept the level of weak coffee just so you all can “search for a high THC count”and keep shelling out $$. for more. Man, legality sucks. Make it illegal again and keep these amateurs out of business. At least the cartels got you some weed that kicks butt. Illegaize it!

    1. Born in 1959, lived in Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami. You are lying to yourself if you believe that cannabis was stronger “back in the day”. Consider the fact your tolerance at that time, was minuscule. Hindsight isn’t always 20/20, and your memories are false. Feel free to continue to rant and believe it used to be better, but all of us are shaking our heads while smoking on primo cannabis while you complain that the garbage you used to smoke in the 70s was better. Feel free to return to your timeline, and get busted for 2 grams of ditch weed, and face a 30 year prison sentence. I don’t miss that at all. It sounds like you might enjoy tweaking

      1. Or, the weed back in the day had different cannabinoids profiles than just high THC levels. The entourage effect is more than just terpenes, flavonoids, etc. It’s how it all hits the receptors in the brain and body. Old Thai stick from way back in the day had trace levels of THCV. Will post the COA to prove it on our Twitter.

    1. High as Giraffe ass from Tampa FL, smoking on Oreoz at 38.07%, Italian ice at at 35.44% And 1 of my favorites this year Red Velvet its at 39.81%. All with nice white ash

  15. Check out the the the trichomes on this fat bag of crystal meth I’m blazing on right now… ahhhh Testing my brain cell sparklers coffee umbrellas muffin. Zesty vroom tikis labia flat%

    (5/5)
  16. Our outdated farm in Oregon just had our Mr. Nasty come back 35.6% w a total cannabinoid # of an amazing 42.4%. it’s the total cannabinoid % that’s the ticket not just the THC %. That said the nicest body high all year
came from some 19% 22% stuff like Cherry Noir #5. That entourage effect is a legit thing

  17. Potency is mostly in genes not light u can not get killer weed without good seed. All these real high thc numbers are for total the not delta 9.Most of the stuff I get from dispensary in ohio is bull. Over priced nonsense.Delta9 numbers on ohio legal weed are all less than 1 percent. Not a typo but true.the bulk of the large 30 percent is thc a which is not worth a darn just like delta 8 it sucks. My wife gets a buzz from cbd weed she don’t smoke.I get Nuthin from 90 percent of legal stuff in ohio.Of course I BEEN smoking 50 years. So he is burnt. Maybe but when someone whips out some good stuff grown wherever I always start to sing hey Jude if the weed is good. Also weed don’t cure pain unless it’s in your mind.Wife is chronic pain patient 20 years nuff said.

  18. I’m new to smokin. But I love smokin at least 5,6 different strains at one time. So does the % of THC differ?! I use a blunt #king palms.
All strains are in the high 27& up%…

    1. The Terpenes aka cannabinoids get you high which vary from strain ! Essentially you get high with 5 strains mixed in versus just one strain at a time! I recommend trying High Octane OG.

      (5/5)
  19. Hi Guys, I’m Nico Du Rand from Geo Greenhealth (South Africa) We are a cGMP registered company and are seed breeding registered.
Thanks for all the great replies. We found as high as 34% in our new genetic – “Island Flight” (Hybrid – Sativa dominant 70%) but that might be a extra pheno. As we tested an avg. we ended up with 29%. I think there might be spikes in all pheno’s. We normally extract some oil to test that as well and use both references for our COA’s.

    1. I wanna be a taste teaster for your.. projects..and I know my weed and had my share..I will move to your location

  20. I like strong mind and body highs as well as giggling, tingling, and euphoria! What are some strains you would recommend for me to get those affects?

  21. In Southern California, Grease Monkey isn’t a strong strain at all, I rated the smoke either 2 or 3 out of 5.

    (3/5)
  22. Nice review although you might add LambsBread or some may call Lambs Breath.
Often called the favorite strain of Bob Marley. The pungent aroma hits the chest and stinks up any room. A island gem if you can find it rich in minerals.✊🏿👍🏿🔥😁

  23. After smoking weed for 40+ years, I have come across some really delicious and potent strains. Truthfully, I’m not sure why half of the weed in existence isn’t the Brownie Scout strain. It’s the most delicious and potent strain I’ve come across. It truly would be my #1 choice. I’m not even an indica guy

  24. Wow! At last I got a website from where I know
how to genuinely take useful data regarding my study and knowledge.

  25. I literally just finished smoking a pre-roll I got at a dispensary near me that was
    42.01% TAC and 39.76% THC
    GMO by Trulieve Cultivar
and it was great!!!! That was the first time I had ever seen anything over 38% Soooo you know I was souped and had to rush in to grab it!!! We have alot of 30%-35% strains regularly at our dispensaries and I’ve been waiting hoping something stronger would come out. And I can’t find more info about these super high TAC strains. I was just lucky enough to run into it but if you google this you find stories like this saying that we are yet to see 40%+

‘….At 32.56% I bred and own the strongest strain in the world. Show me your certificate of analysis, or you have nothing. No one has ever taken this challenge….”

Challenge accept..and you forgot to provide evidence of the 32.56%..
I cannot upload the screen grab but In have the certificate for 7 Pointsn Oregon testing of Future #1.
They tested it twice because they thought was a mistake.
    37.28%.

  29. Mr Nice guy . Half hash plant strain , and you can do the math homework . Just try it , hash is the key word s and thc level game changer . Period .

    (5/5)
  30. There are hundreds of not thousands of different cannabinoids that give different affects of producing a high. High THC levels no longer have the best effect of being the better plant. Quit arguing
